Chum Kiu Part 2
Compulsory Prerequisite Courses:
SNT Part 1, SNT Part 2, Chum Kiu Part 1
Recommended Prerequisite Courses:
SNT Part 3
This is the 2nd half of the Chum Kiu program which covers all the remaining and more advance aspects of the Chum Kiu form.
Having practiced finding and utilizing our Center of Mass in the Part 1 of the Chum Kiu program, in this Part 2 we begin to mobilize our mass to power the more difficult movements in the Chum Kiu form, practice using pivoting for effortless redirection of incoming force, and delve into the highest levels of the Chum Kiu form which lead to a feeling of lightness and emptiness from your side in your movements but felt as enormous powerful forces from your partner’s side.
The Chum Kiu Part 2 Curriculum Explained
This course is 17 hrs in duration and covers many things such as:
Transferring Mass
into the limbs to create different directions of forces with the momentum created (i.e. rotational force, sliding force, piercing force)
Mobilizing Mass
into the legs and making the knees an ‘outlet’ for projection of force.
Tangible Relaxation
of the back muscles around the scapula and spine to coordinate to movement of the body and arm ‘from the back’, leading to a sense of lightness and then emptiness in the limbs.
Power Generation
Detailed videos on how to apply each newly introduced idea in every single movement of the form Chum Kiu, and how a training partner can apply resistance to every movement of the Chum Kiu form, how to read the feedback from the experience and what feelings to look for. These videos are very useful even for people who do not have training partners as they allow you to understand how to guide a non-Wing Chun person such as a friend, spouse, or family member to apply resistance to your movements for feedback.
Hours of Teaching Moment Footage
of Grandmaster Chu Shong Tin teaching at his school in Hong Kong as well as seminars which are all related to what you will learn in this course. These videos are subtitled and dubbed over by Sifu Nima in a podcast break-down style and so are very special and unique to our online students.
After this course, you can move to the Wooden Dummy and Biu Gee courses in which you can continue to deepen your practice in this beautiful art of Wing Chun Kung Fu.
Happy training!
