Chi Sao Complete
Compulsory Prerequisite Courses
SNT Part 1 , SNT part 2
Recommended Prerequisite Courses
SNT Part 3 , Chum Kiu Part 1, Chum Kiu Part 2
This course covers Chi Sao from the very beginning to the most advanced stages of the practice.
Chi Sao is unique to the art of Wing Chun but there are many different interpretations of it’s use and method of practice depending on the lineage and teacher.
Using the ‘internal’ method of practice, we are able to produce great power with every move while using very little brute muscular force. This also means that we not only avoid injuries to our shoulders, but we learn how to utilize the shoulder girdle in a way that allows us to injury-proof it when it’s under the pressure of incoming force, which means the benefits of this practice will go beyond the practice of Wing Chun and into our daily lives.
Online Community
As a part of this course, you will also have access to our Online Facebook group (or Telegram group) which is unique for all online students in which you will have direct access to Sifu Nima King and many the other Sifus in this lineage as well as all the other online students. You can ask questions, start discussions, post training videos for feedback, or even connect with a training partner who lives near you.
The Chi Sao Curriculum Explained
This course is 28 hrs in duration and covers many things such as:
- Single Sticking hand sequence
- Common mistakes of Sticking hands practice (detailed 3-part video series)
- Rolling Hands (Look Sao)
- Tens of exercises, drill and ideas to work within Rolling hands, shared sequentially to ensure the correct foundations are set before Chi Sao Sparring
- Many ‘Lap Sao’ and ‘Cross Punching’ Drills which cultivate the automatic attack and defense response through the Centerline.
- The ideas and concepts taken from the empty hand forms and how to incorporate them into Chi Sao to ensure maximum efficiency of movement and utilizing our Center of Mass as the power source of all movements.
- Chi Sao sparring, done the ‘CORRECT’ way! This enables us to truly ‘connect’ with our partner’s center of gravity so that we can transfer our mass through the arms into their body and consequently gain seemingly effortless control. This, indeed, is the highest level and rare attainment in Chi Sao which looks beyond the individual techniques and drills of Chi Sao that many get fixated on!
- Hours of Footage of Grandmaster Chu Shong Tin and his teachings on Chi Sao.
This course is one not to miss for any Kung Fu practitioner who is interested in understanding how to connect to the partner’s center of balance to gain full control making both attacks and defense very natural and rather effortless as a byproduct!
Happy Training!
